WooCommerce 11.2 is out. It adds a few useful store tools and changes some behavior you may rely on. Read the last section before you update.
What’s new for store owners
Date field at checkout. If your store uses the Checkout block, you can ask shoppers for a date. Think preferred delivery day or a birthday. Shoppers use their phone’s or browser’s own date picker, and you can limit which dates they can choose. Adding the field takes a short code snippet.
Easier product imports. Got a supplier price sheet that only lists UPCs? You can import it as-is. With “Update existing products” turned on, the importer matches each row by ID, then SKU, then GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN.
EU withdrawal emails. If you sell in the EU, you can now edit both emails sent when a customer requests to withdraw an order. One goes to the customer and one goes to your store. Find them under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails. You can preview them, choose who is notified, or turn either one off.
Sticky product filters. Turn on sticky positioning for the Product Filters block. Filters then stay on screen as shoppers scroll a long category page.
More style controls. Quantity selectors, product images, and filter chips gain new options such as borders, shadows, colors, and rounded corners. Set them once under Appearance > Editor > Styles > Blocks, or adjust each block.
Speed and ordering
You can now reorder products, whether you have 5 or 50,000. Stores with variable products (items with options like size or color) load and check out faster. Report totals also use fewer database queries, and their memory use no longer grows with your customer count.
Changes to check before updating
- Account emails: If you were CC’ing or BCC’ing yourself on password reset, new account, or email confirmation messages, those copies stop. These emails carry login links, so only the customer gets them now.
- Download links: Standard links work as before. A rare custom or imported link with malformed data may stop working. If a customer reports one, reissue the link from the order.
- Shop managers: They can no longer edit users who also hold certain other roles, such as forum or membership roles. An administrator can still update those roles.
As always, test on a staging copy first if your store depends on custom checkout code or imported download links. WooCommerce publishes the full WooCommerce 11.2 announcement with more detail.
