WordPress 7.0.1 is out. It’s a short-cycle maintenance release that fixes 31 bugs across Core and the block editor, touching the admin UI and media handling.

What changed. This release doesn’t add features. It cleans up bugs left over from WordPress 7.0, the major release from May. Areas fixed include the block editor, the admin interface, and how media is handled.

What to do. If your site has automatic background updates turned on, the update will apply on its own. Otherwise, go to your WordPress Dashboard, click Updates, then click Update Now. You can also download WordPress 7.0.1 directly.

There’s no security fix flagged in this release, so there’s no urgency, but it’s a safe, low-risk update worth applying at your next maintenance window.

Looking ahead, WordPress 7.1 is scheduled for August 19, 2026, at WordCamp US.
