The official AI plugin has a new release, version 1.4.0. It follows 1.3.0 from August. Most features are opt-in experiments you switch on in settings.

Markdown feeds for AI tools

The new Markdown Feeds experiment publishes your content as Markdown, a plain-text format that AI systems read more easily than web pages. Once enabled, your site gets a feed at /feed/markdown/. Any post or page can also be requested as Markdown by adding ?output_format=markdown to its URL.

Headings, links, images, lists, quotes, and code are preserved.

Comment Value score

Comment Moderation now rates each comment from 0 to 1 for how substantive it is. This sits beside the existing toxicity and sentiment signals. It helps you tell polite but empty comments from useful ones.

Smaller improvements

  • Content Translation covers more default languages, can use your editorial guidelines, and keeps formatting better.
  • Alt text generation skips images you mark as decorative.
  • Type Ahead shows a loading indicator and no longer shifts your text while suggestions load.
  • AI request logs now classify provider errors correctly.
  • Embeddings tools were expanded. This is developer groundwork for future search and recommendation features.

If you already run the plugin, update and review which experiments you want on.
